Spanish Fork City Softball Champs – 2015
Team Carlson becomes the Spanish Fork Softball Champs for Slow-pitch on July 16th, 2015 after getting a slow start at the beginning of the season.
Slow-pitch softball is a favorite summer and fall pastime in Spanish Fork City for both watching and playing. Therefore, it is very competitive and each time takes great pride to win the championship for a year of “bragging rights” as it were.
Perseverance
James put together this team, and it included all of my sons and son-in-law.
The odds were stacked against them from the very beginning of the season by teams who had played together for years. “Team Carlson” started out slowly at the beginning of the year and struggled to “just-win” a game here and there with a regular-season win/loss record of 2 and 7 going into the tournament. But, after persevering, they ended up on top after the end-of-season, double elimination, the tournament was over. The team they beat, in the championship game, had already beat us two times in the regular season. In addition, they were undefeated during the regular season play. Team Carlson not only beat them but beat them handily!
I was so proud of how “my boys” gutted-out the season and played through the city tournament with a can-do, will-do attitude!
It was fun for Jill and me to participate in as spectators… and yeah, it is a pretty big deal!
