11/04/11: My homeroom class has finished the unit “Changes in Matter” and will be going to Social Studies next Monday. In addition to “Changes in Matter,” we also learned about Newton’s Three Laws of Motion.
10/03/11: We finished up with the metric system last Friday and will start the scientific method unit today. This unit will include an experiment that the students will need to complete at home.
09/22/11: (Day 3) Conducted a science lab relative to measuring length with metric system. Students are starting to understand how this system of measurement works and are progressing very well.
09/21/11: (Day 2) Formally introduced the metric system and how to convert from one unit to another. Conducted a short introduction to length and the meter and completed a worksheet to reinforce the concepts. Assigned homework which is due tomorrow.
09/19/11: (Day 1) Reviewed place value of numbers. Introduced students to measurement and its uncertainty. Watched “Powers of Ten” video and discussed with students how they felt about it.
